The Saratoga County incident happened Wednesday, Jan. 17, at a residence in the town of Halfmoon.

Deputies were called shortly before 7 p.m. for a burglary in progress. By the time they arrived, the suspect had fled.

An investigation determined that Jessie Smith, of Mechanicville, had entered the home without permission and physically assaulted and injured the victim, according to sheriff's officials.

Before fleeing, Smith allegedly damaged property in the home and stole multiple items.

Deputies located Smith the following day at her Mechanicville home and arrested her without incident.

It was not immediately clear whether she and the alleged victim knew one another.

Smith is charged with the following:

  • Robbery
  • Grand larceny
  • Two counts of assault
  • Criminal mischief

Following her arraignment at the Clifton Park Town Court, she was taken to the Saratoga County jail on $60,000 bond.
